Paledo Box with OPC interface – linking production and maintenance

Industry 4.0 closely links machines, processes and employees. This enables a higher degree of automation, accelerates information exchange, increases plant availability and provides valuable information from the process life cycle. Paledo supports the approach of Industry 4.0 with the Paledo Box.

Paledo Box improves networking in your company, increases plant availability and reduces maintenance costs.

Paledo Box is a permanently installed operator and machine interface at the technical location and enables networked condition monitoring for the maintenance of industrial machines. Paledo Box networks the maintenance staff on site, the production as well as maintenance and logistics processes and automates the triggering of troubleshooting and maintenance measures. Data is exchanged via the manufacturer-independent OPC interface.

In detail

Through the OPC interface, all data available in the PLCs can be used to automate fault, repair and maintenance processes. In the event of a fault, for example, the machine orders its own maintenance personnel and already reserves the right spare part. In the event of maintenance, the machine recognizes its need for maintenance on the basis of its condition and schedules the maintenance measure in advance in the maintenance planning.

If it is technically or for safety reasons not possible to read out the PLC data via OPC, the Paledo-Box with sensor module and by using analog (e.g. temperature) or digital inputs (e.g. counter, limit switch) provides the option of implementing condition-based process automation (condition monitoring) in maintenance in these cases as well.

In addition – with and without a sensor interface – the Paledo Box enables the visualization of the maintenance status of the machine on site. For example, the degree of maintenance, pending maintenance measures, machine availability and information on the current status (malfunction, cause, processing status) can be displayed. In addition, the employee can trigger maintenance processes easily and intuitively via the touch screen. This includes, for example, creating a fault message, reserving spare parts and operating supplies, or recording working hours. The identification and authentication of the employee is carried out via an RFID-capable employee badge.

Paledo Box

  • Permanently installed operator and machine interface on site
Maximum operating efficiency and user-friendliness for simple transactions (touch operating concept analogous to smartphone apps)
Efficient user authentication within seconds using the employee badge without password login
Digital infopoint for the current machine status
Gateway for retrofit of machine sensors for process automation, industry 4.0 also for old plants

Paledo OPC Interface

  • M2M communication standard with broad acceptance in industry (Siemens, Rockwell, Beckhoff, …)
OPC server forms gateway between proprietary PLCs or PLC and office communication
Potential gateway between machine and SAP (measurement document transfer via Paledo)
